Reception Desks - First impressions count
Convey the spirit and professionalism of your company
Your reception area is usually the first thing, as well as the last thing, that your clients and visitors see, and so it is vital to create that first and lasting impression, to convey the spirit and professionalism of your company. And key to this is your choice of reception desk. This is the one piece above all others that sets the tone for your visitors and it really needs to be carefully considered. Your décor and seating arrangements are secondary and can be planned around the reception desk, so the right choice here is fundamental. Remember too that whatever your choice, it is likely to be with you for some years to come.
Although the number of receptionists will affect the size of your desk, generally the available space will dictate the scale of your new reception desk. A small unit can fade into insignificance in a grand entrance hall but conversely don’t be tempted to overcrowd the space in an attempt to make a bold statement.
The choice for the overall look of your reception desk is really determined by the nature of your business. It needs to reflect the spirit and culture of your business and it needs to resonate with your particular clientele. And as well as looking right, it must also work for you.
You will note that the format of many of our ranges of reception desks is quite similar, as the basic requirements for all manner of companies are often surprisingly alike. However your choice of finish can radically change the look. This is particularly true with our laminate reception desks such as Emel. Sharp high gloss white, coupled with glass and chrome is very sharp and clinical. Bright vibrant colours can suggest energy and dynamism, paler shades and earth tones may be more approachable and welcoming.
Premia and Scene are our key ranges of veneered reception desks. These have an altogether different aesthetic that lends gravitas to any office. They are beautifully executed bespoke pieces that exude quality, style and opulence. Whether you opt for the rich tones of American walnut or something lighter in maple or sycamore (or a combination of both), your clients will invariably take note.
Most of our reception desks are either modular or fully bespoke and so they can normally be configured to suit the available space.
Your reception desk is the centre piece and the focal point of the room, and in fact it is often the centre piece and hub of the company . It should ideally be set up in line with the entrance so that your receptionist has a clear line of sight for incoming visitors and similarly that visitors are given a clear message as to where they need to go. The overall height should provide privacy for your receptionists, so that for instance their computer screens are not on view, but it should remain welcoming and not too intimidating for new visitors. A combination of high and low level counters works well if you have sufficient space, and also helps to provide a DDA accessible area.
It is not possible to show all the options and possibilities within the confines of the website but if you would like to discuss your requirements or if you would like some help or advice please call us on 0208 292 0025. We will be very happy to talk to you.
